Über die Autorin/den Autor

Dr. S. A. Sannasiraj is Chair Professor at the Department of Ocean Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, industrial projects, and administration. His field of specialization includes the coastal and harbor structures, wind-wave modeling, breaking wave impact, modeling of nonlinear free surface waves, climate change impacts on coasts, and wave energy. Dr. Sannasiraj has co-authored 5 books and more than 350 publications in referred journals and conferences. He has supervised 23 Ph.D. scholars. He currently holds the position of Vice Chair of the Asia Pacific Division of The International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR-APD). He serves as Principal Coordinator for the DAAD Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre [ABCD-Centre] with the main hub at Chennai and the DST Centre of Excellence for Climate Change Impacts on Coastal Infrastructure and Adaptation Strategies at IIT Madras. He is also Area Coordinator (water) of Indo-German Center for Sustainability at IIT Madras from April 2020.Dr. B. S. Murty is Faculty Member at the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras since December 1998. Prior to this, he taught and researched at IIT Kanpur from July 1989 until December 1998. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Washington State University, Pullman, USA, in 1989 and master's degree from IISc, Bangalore, in 1984. His main areas of research include computational hydraulics, contaminant transport modeling, and pipeline hydraulics. He has guided/co-guided a total of 13 Ph.D., four M.S. (by research), and 48 M.Tech. students in these areas. He has authored/co-authored five book chapters and 76 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Earlier, he was Coordinator for Socially Responsible Projects (SRP) program at IIT Madras for six years from 2006. He has helped several industries, such as Larsen & Toubro, Tata Projects Limited, Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Ltd., and APGENCO, etc. through his consulting. He is on the editorial board of several renowned journals, such as Sadhna (published by Indian Academy of Sciences) and ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering.Dr. Panneer Selvam Rajamanickam is Faculty Member in the Department of Ocean Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India, since 2006 and has been continuing as Professor since 2015. He has industrial, research, and teaching experience of about 29 years. His initial research focused on system identification and its application to small bodies, large bodies, and ships, earning him his doctoral degree. Since joining as Faculty, his research has expanded to many wave-structure applications. He has supervised many post-graduate and doctoral students. His research interests include static and dynamic analysis of different floaters catering to offshore wind energy, numerical and experimental analysis of new concepts of offshore structures like non-ship-shaped floating production, storage, and offloading (fpsos), tension-based tension leg platform, very large floating structures (vlfs), and gyrostabilizers, besides studies associated with extreme waves on coastal structures. He has also been associated with various consultancy and sponsored research projects. Several of his research works have been presented in international conferences in India and abroad. He has published several journal articles along with his students in many prominent Scopus-indexed journals and has served as Reviewer for core field journals as well. He has traveled widely across the globe and has been appointed as Visiting Faculty twice during the summer term at the University of Windsor, Canada. He is also Member of few professional bodies and serves as Board Member in some industries associated with research.Deepak Kumar obtained his bachelor´s degree in civil engineering from Bangalore University in 1999 and master´s degree in structural engineering from BITS Pilani in 2003. Further, he obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi in 2009 from the Civil Engineering Department. He did his Post Doctoral from University of Notre Dame in 2010 from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering before joining department of Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras. Presently, he is working in the same department as Professor of structural engineering. He teaches courses related to structure, structural dynamics, and nonlinear structural dynamics to undergraduate and graduate students. His areas of interest include fluid structural interaction, random vibration applied to ocean engineering, and coastal structural improvement and design. He has guided seven Ph.D. students and five M.S. students and published 25 peer-reviewed articles international journals and more than 30 peer-reviewed conference papers. He has completed few sponsored projects of national importance and has worked with research organisations and industry, completing research consultancy of social and national importance.
